The High Commissioner Pakistan Mr. Tariq Azim Khan met the delegation of (PSA) from University of Ottawa in Islamabad. He shared his views with the delegation stating,” Pakistani origin students should actively participate in local and international events at the universities to promote true perspective of Pakistan". The Commissioner appreciated the opportunities Canadian Universities are providing to Pakistani students and he emphasized students to make most of these opportunities.
Furthermore, he explained how necessary it is for <students living abroad to participate in foreign communities they are living in, it sends a positive message and sets a good image of their native country. He also expressed that the contribution made by Pakistani origin Canadians for Pakistan has been commendable. . The University of Ottawa is a “bilingual public research university in Ottawa Ontario, Canada. It is one of the oldest universities of North America built in 1848 as the College of Bytown.
The students shared the details of the plans they have made to promote true image of Pakistan in Canada, to which the Commissioner assured his complete assistance in deliberation of these plans. The Pakistan Students Association, University of Ottawa (PSA UO – Mission) is mission statement reads, “To help students gain a higher perspective and knowledge on the culture of Pakistan by interacting through student-run events based at the University of Ottawa”. A large number of Pakistani students are studying in University of Ottawa and other Universities of Canada. The Canadian is funding many scholarship programmes for foreign students.

Figures from Canadian census of 2011, 155,310 Pakistanis were calculated to be living in different Canadian provinces. However, Canada considers Pakistan as an important country of South Asia and appreciates its role in war against terrorism. The Canadian Government quoting a figure of over 300,000 Pakistanis living in Canada, adding that, "they continue to make significant contributions to the prosperity and multi-cultural fabric of Canada."
Toronto the capital city of Canada has most number of Pakistani citizens residing in it. Pakistani citizens who are there for temporary stay or permanent residents are active part of Canadian community. Pakistani Canadians are responsible for establishment of many actively working organizations in Canada such as: Anjuman Burhani - Dawoodi Bohra Muslim Community, Canadian Islamic Congress, Canadian,
Shia Muslim Organization, Islamic Society of North America, Minhaj ul Quran Center Mississauga, Muslim Association of Canada, Muslim Canadian Congress and Muslim Student Association of Canada. The Canadian government under Justin Trudeau has been welcoming to Muslims, the Canadian president has often seen posting messages wishing Muslims on Eids and he also paid visits to mosques. He considers Muslim Community as an important part of Canadian population. He welcomed Syrian refugees whole heartedly which has set an example of good will in Muslim world.
